IP PreVENT present its first results on IP Requirements and prepares for Phase 2

IP PReVENT Workshop - 23 February 2005

Preventive safety applications help drivers avoid accidents by sensing the nature and significance of the imminent danger, while taking the driver’s state and status into account. Depending on the importance and timing of the foreseeable danger, the systems will alert the driver as early as possible, warn him/her and, if there is no reaction on the part of the driver, actively assist or ultimately intervene in order to avoid and mitigate the accident. The four-year PReVENT Integrated Project, started in February 2004, aims to develop, test and validate a variety of Preventive Safety Applications using advanced sensors and communication devices integrated into on-board systems for driver assistance.

IP PReVENT is now approaching its second phase. The IP PReVENT coordination organised an open workshop in Brussels on 23 February 23 in order to present the latest results within IP PReVENT and call for participation to the second phase of the project. The event welcomed more than 110 participants - of which more than 50% were not IP PReVENT consortium members!

Introduction to the workshop

IP PReVENT phase 1 requirements results

Most of the IP PReVENT subprojects have finished their requirements phase and published their results, however this consolidated document will identify the commonalities between different applications using similar sensors. The results were presented at the Open Workshop.
