September 2004 - subprojects coordination meeting
PReVENT subproject leaders gathered at DaimlerChrysler's Esslingen research facilities 28 and 29 September 2004 to discuss progress with the IP management, receive the latest information from the European Commission and work towards common understanding and planning on on-going activities at both the IP and subproject levels to facilitate further integration.
Another specific objective was to exchange the requirements and set the milestones towards an important public IP Deliverable on Requirements.

After the opening by the IP coordinator, Elina Holmberg of the European Commission presented an update on the eSafety activities at the European level. She summarised the results from the important eSafety high-level meeting 27 September 2004 with the public authorities and noted that the European Commission is preparing a second Communication on eSafety, which is planned to be presented to the Council in December 2004. Ms Holmberg also announced the following key events:
- Project clustering meeting from activities co-funded by Directorate-General INFSO, Unit C5 transport, Brussels - 8-9 November 2004 in Brussels
- IST Conference & Exhibition, 15-17 November 2004 in Den Haag, The Netherlands.
The full afternoon session, moderated by IP Manager Edwin Bastiaensen, featured discussions between the subprojects in order to exchange the approach and requirements results and give an idea of next steps in each subproject. All subprojects were represented, and a number of recommendations were approved for the IP requirement harmonisation activity. Afterwards, Mr Bastiaensen gave further background information on the approach for PReVENT’s 2nd phase.
The second day’s morning session featured topics such as dissemination and cooperation with the EUCAR programme on Integrated Safety, in which multiple Integrated Projects cooperate and exchange information to ensure a common vision and avoid duplication of work. The afternoon session focused on the next steps towards IP requirements. It also included an introduction to the knowledge management tool at which all IP and subproject documents are shared on a single platform.
