D13.500 Recommendation for original research activities
ProFusion
Public document
Executive Summary One of the main objectives of ProFusion, as a horizontal subproject of PReVENT, was to provide recommendations and guidelines to be used by the Core Group, to invite for internal subproject development and work-plan adjustment for activities on Sensors and Sensor Data Fusion within the IP. The herein presented recommendations emerged from the forum activities accomplished within ProFusion in two different ways: first, analysis of questionnaires, which have been filled in by the vertical subprojects of PreVENT, by representatives from other European projects, and by sensor suppliers, and second, exploitation of discussion results gathered during three workshops. The resulting information, together with requirements from the vertical subprojects, has been used to analyze the state-of-the-art and to identify original research works of common interest. This report synthesizes the analysis made by the ProFusion team. Recommendations have been designed to have a broad scope and to be flexible, in order to address a wide range of research activities. But they are also ambitious and challenging, which has led the ProFusion team to categorize them in three classes:
- High priority for ProFusion
• Modular architectures for interoperability and sensor data fusion; • Framework for robust and reliable multi-sensor ADAS.
- Possibly within PReVENT:
• Testing and assessment of multi-sensor systems; • Extended forum for exchanges on sensor data fusion.
- Outside PReVENT:
• Sensor enhancements for interoperability and sensor data fusion. The recommendations cover most fields of data processing, which are typically used for perception of the vehicle environment (infrastructure, obstacles…) in a driver assistance system.
