Summary
The WILLWARN system will be used for on-board hazard detection, in-car warning management, and decentralised warning distribution by communication between vehicles on a road network When a hazard has been detected, a message is generated and sent via a wireless connection. Not all the messages generated
and sent are relevant for a driver in another vehicle. With algorithms for positioning and relevance checks the message relevance for the vehicles receiving a hazard warning is determined. So the Warning Message will be presented to the driver in time and at the right spot.
The relevance check is based on scene representations that each vehicle builds up with information from the own vehicle sensors and with information obtained by communication with other vehicles and/or infrastructure entities. In this report the approach for the positioning and relevance check is described and evaluated.
