D32.2 Requirements and specifications
This deliverable aims at the presentation of LATERAL SAFE subproject requirements starting from user requirements identified from accident databases, questionnaires and previous research experience, continuing with the state of the art analysis of similar applications and sensors used in these and ending with the definition of the functional requirements, the all around functions and the functional specifications of LATERAL SAFE applications.
For the purposes of this document, a number of sources have been investigated in order to provide the ranges percentages of all categories of accidents per various parameters, evaluated as critical, as well as the corresponding user requirements, stemmed from surveys of similar systems to LATERAL SAFE. The overall classification may be used as input for other PReVENT subprojects that would use it as a basis for further evaluations. However, for LATERAL SAFE subproject specifically, the relevant categories have been defined and used for the use cases and scenarios definition.
The analysis of the state of the art applications and sensors provides a general description of existing systems in the area of LATERAL SAFE, such as lane departure warning systems, lane change assist systems, lateral collision warning systems and lateral and rear area monitoring systems. The sensors used for these applications are radar, video, ultrasonic and infrared sensors. The next step of this work is the specification of the LATERAL SAFE functional requirements belonging in application level, perception layer, sensor level vehicle level and interface level. The deliverable ends with the definition of the all around functions.
